KISSmetrics just made me sit up and take notice

By Steve Claridge on 2014-11-10.

Over time I've signed up for a lot of emails, something catches my eye and I sign up for updates because it's something I might check out later or something that might be useful six months down the line. 90% of the time those emails just go straight into the bin but I don't unsubscribe, I just keep popping them into the bin without reading them - never know, might be something useful in one of them.....

KISSmetrics is one of those I signed up for, nice product, looks useful and could be something I'd need somewhere down the line. There I was, quite happily binning the emails from Lars Lofgren on a weekly basis, I'd got to the point where I didn't even know which company he worked for, just glanced the name and moved to the bin. But today I got an email from Lars with the title: "Do you still want updates from us?". Do I? I'm not sure but now I'm thinking about your company and what they can do for me. It stopped me dead in my tracks, you never get emails asking if you want to stop receiving emails.
"you never get emails asking if you want to stop receiving emails" But here's the most eye-opening bit: they've unsubscribed me automatically from their mailing list and put a link button into the email to click if I want to carry on receiving emails. Amazing! This is a lesson in how to treat your (potential) customers right here. Every mailing list you sign up to say they don't spam, and most don't, but this is some next-level shit. A real sit up and take notice moment. Here's the email I got from them.

I've signed back up, I don't want to miss a thing from these guys.
